CRH Clay Products has been nominated for the GevelTotaal Innovation Prize 2006. The innovative product is called Laminam®, a new type of ceramic façade cladding. Laminam® is a high-quality ceramic plate material that can be supplied in large dimensions and that has a number of unique characteristics: it is scratch-resistant, wear-resistant, fire-resistant, lightweight, colourfast, easy to clean and easy to process. The dimensions of the Laminam® façade cladding plates are 1000x3000x6mm, offering architects an aesthetic solution for covering façades with a ceramic material in combination with a sleek monumental character. Laminam® is available in many different colours and can be used both indoors and outdoors. One of the activities at the GevelTotaal trade fair is the exhibition entitled ‘De Façade als Zetel’ (The Façade as a Seat). Here, CRH Clay Products presents a special seating element, assembled using Laminam® ceramic plates. The design is by Marc Aurel Jensen of KCAP Architects and Planners in Rotterdam. It is a fun seating element demonstrating another application of the plate material that is generally intended for use as ceramic façade cladding.

In addition to Laminam®, we will also be introducing innovative brick assembly technology at the GevelTotaal fair, under the name Leebrick. This is a system for stacking bricks or for hanging on a steel construction, without the use of joint mortar. It works extremely fast, and results in an innovative façade appearance thanks to the ways in which bricks can be positioned: in random patterns, in relief, flat, horizontal or vertical. Leebrick is an innovation by Leebo in Drunen (a subsidiary of CRH Clay Products). A large Leebrick facade element will be on show at the CRH stand. Come and take a look!
